About Us

Background

In preperation for a PLC upgrade to a 1980's stamping press, Outright Hydraulics were tasked to reverse engineer the hydraulic circuit on the press. This was due to the drawings and documentation been of poor quality and incorrect. The company where going to carry out the electrical and PLC control side of things, Outright was incharge of working out the hydraulic valve sequencing for each program combination and general hydrualic refurb.

Reverse Engineering the Hydraulics

It was found quiet quickly that the circuit which was for this system did not match totally. After going over all the valves and tracing pipework it was agreed that Outright would draft up a drawing from scratch. After many days climbing over the system a hydraulic drawing was drawn up. From this Outright worked out what valves needed to be energied and de-energised so preset programs could be written by the customer.

Outright was also on hand for fault finding during intial press testing.

The Final Product

After 4 months of work between Outright Hydraulics, the customer and other contractors the press was put back into action. Now that the system had preset PLC programs multiple operators could now use it without the need for such complex training.

Outright found out after that the original press manufacture offered to carry out the work but at double the cost.
